It is highly amusing to note that even during its national convention, the DAP continues harping on petty issues and throwing tantrums like a spoilt child.
Now, it is demanding Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abd Kadir to apologise to its delegates attending the national convention for the state government's "poor welcome".
Leading the pack, Perak DAP chief Datuk Ngeh Koo Ham accused the Barisan Nasional state government of being a poor sport when it allowed the Ipoh City Council to remove all the party's flags that were posted up around the city in conjunction with the convention.
He went on rambling that as the host of the national convention, the Perak DAP was deeply embarrassed by the state government's attitude and show of intolerance.
"It shows that they (the BN government) have no concern for the welfare of the people, and they are sending a message across that our people are not welcome.
"They are also conveying a very undemocratic image of the state government and that they do not even recognise a legally constituted party.
"We want Zambry to give an explanation and to apologise to all our delegates," he said.
Being a veteran politician, Ngeh should know better than to try and gain cheap political mileage.
He must understand that council officials were only doing their job when they removed some 600 flags that the party had put up all over the city.
As rightfully pointed out by Ipoh Mayor Datuk Roshidi Hashim, the DAP did not apply for permits to erect their flags across the city.
"They have to abide by the law. Even when PAS organised its muktamar here, we advised them to apply for permits to put up their flags and they did.
"Even if Umno is hosting a function, we will advise them to do the same," he said.
So what seems to be the problem here?
Nobody is above the law and giving all kinds of lame excuses simply will not justify a wrongdoing.
At the end of the day, the DAP must remember that two wrongs do not make a right.
