What in the blazes…

Despite it being a long weekend, I actually woke up early last Friday to usher in the New Year.

Over a mug of coffee and my first ciggie for the day, I started browsing several news website to catch up with the latest happenings.

It was obviously a huge mistake on my part as the name of former Perak Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Mohammad Nizar Jamaluddin caught my attention.

Sigh...what a real spoilsport.

It was only the first day for the year 2010 and already he has promised yet another year of political chaos in Perak.

Nizar was quoted as saying that Pakatan has never backed down from a fight and, if anything, was ever ready to flex its muscles and tug even harder on its end.

The whole purpose, the "wise" one said, was not just to win back Perak.

"What we want now is the same as what we always wanted and what we will always have strength to fight for - that the rights of the people to choose their own government are returned.

"We are not greedy for power and we are not fighting to win back the government. We just want the people's rights returned and we are willing to struggle every step of the way for this," he said.

Same old, same old...

It is sad to see a person of his calibre and stature stooping so low while continue playing to the public gallery.

I am sure that most, if not all, Perakians are simply sick and fed up of endless politicking.

While this may be the case, a handful of Pakatan leaders still carry on harping on their lost cause akin to flogging a horse already long dead.

It is simply of no use trying to camouflage their true intentions - regaining political power and with it administration of this Silver State.

Even the great Nizar has admitted that Pakatan's stubbornness (of throwing in the towel) would result in more "state assembly fracas" and schedules packed with political dinners and ceramahs.

"Yes, we will be faced with a scenario of a police state again. We will see this happening.

"But this is because they (the Barisan Nasional government) are illegitimate and we cannot recognise them. So yes, their illegitimate Speaker Datuk R. Ganesan will again summon an assembly sitting, and again we cannot recognise this," he said.

Rather foolish words from such a learned man...
